Review | Sapwood | Re-Release | Mad Squirrel Brewery

One thing that has become apparent to me about Mad Squirrel is that they are undoubtedly one of, if not the best in the UK at West Coast IPA's... DIPA's in this instance.

I'm not alone in that school of thought either, as it's rare for Mad Squirrel to re release a limited run of beer. However, Sapwood is back due to popular demand and I'm lucky enough to get my hands on this one, fresh off the production line!

Crackin the can open I'm getting a big hit of flavoursome hops (Chinook, Citra, Simcoe), and when it comes to flavour, boy oh boy does this beer meet my hopes and expectations! A hit of resinous sweetness rich in pine, rounded off by a beautiful bitter fruity grapefruit finish.

It's worth mentioning that while the beer itself is what I'm here for, the packaging is yet again of a high calibre with its quality matt finish... Enough to get any person in the world of paper & print thumbing over the can in satisfaction.

At 8.5 ABV this is no lunchtime starter, but heck, if you're looking to transform your stay at home experience into a coastal redwood trip to California, get evergreen with Sapwood!
